Scheduled Grand Tour:

Day 1 - Tuesday Durban - Pietermartizburg - Drakensberg (Dinner)

Depart the cosmopolitan city of Durban and travel inland to Pietermaritzburg, the administrative capital of the Kwa-Zulu Natal Province. Enjoy a brief city tour and take in the significance of this high character city and its captivating past. The Mahatma Gandhi statue is visited outside the Colonial Building. Nelson Mandela was captured on August 5th, 1962. The Natal scenery bordering on the sublime. Drakensberg range. Check into the hotel and enjoy some time at leisure before enjoying dinner. Overnight Champagne Castle Hotel (standard room) or similar.

Day 2 - Wednesday Drakensberg (Breakfast, Dinner)

Today is dedicated to enjoying the magnificent scenery on offer in the Drakensberg, as well as discovering the cultural significance of this UNESCO World Heritage Site - the uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park. At Giant's Castle, we enjoy a 45-minute walk to the main streets. After the experience, spending the remainder of the afternoon enjoying the facilities, including tennis courts, an animal farm, aviary, hiking trails, bowling green, swimming pool and so much more. Day 3 - Thursday Spioenkop - Dundee - Isandlwana (Breakfast, Dinner)

Enjoy a delicious breakfast followed by check-out formalities. Make your way to the summit of Spioenkop Mountain. The Anglo-Boer 9-day battle of January 1900 - the third bloodiest attempt by the British to relieve Ladysmith. Witnesses to this battle includes Louis Botha (the first Prime Minister of the Union of South Africa), Winston Churchill and Mohandas Ghandi, who led the heroic British stretcher bearers and later became the Mahatma. To the town of Ladysmith, to the end of the Anglo-Boer War. Its historic heritage gives many fascinating sites to discover. Visit the Seige Museum where a diorama excellently depicts Ladysmith and its surrounding hills at the time of the Siege. Artefacts, documents, uniforms, firearms etc. are on display. Travel via Dundee to the Zulus and the British. Enjoy dinner at the hotel. Overnight Rorke's Drift Hotel (standard room) or similar.

Day 4 - Friday Battlefields (Breakfast, Dinner)

Today is dedicated to the exploration of the most famous battlefields of all the many in KwaZulu-Natal. Your guide shall recount the Anglo Zulu War of Isandlwana where 20 000 Zulu warriors wiped out almost an entire British regiment and their firepower within 2 ½ hours. Visit Rorke's Drift Mission where British soldiers, outnumber 35 to 1, fought off 4000 Zulus for 12 hours. This battle generated the award of 11 Victoria Crosses - the highest number to a Regiment in a single action. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight. Day 5 - Saturday Battlefields / Hluhluwe Safari (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

After an early breakfast, where you complete your KwaZulu Natal discovery with an African safari experience. Depending on your arrival time The highly qualified rangers have a wide knowledge of the rich bird and animal life of the region, as well as the indigenous trees and plants. Return to the lodge for dinner. Overnight Falaza Game Lodge & spa (tented suite) or similar.

Day 6 - Sunday Hluhluwe Safari (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Start the day with the animals in front of the bus African sun beats down and take shelter from the sweltering heat in shady areas. Return to the lodge for breakfast and spend the remainder of the day at leisure. Enjoy the facilities on the well-equipped lodge. Wetlands - a world heritage site which affords glimpses of crocodiles and hippos as well as the prolific bird life along the river banks. Overnight Falaza Game Lodge & spa (tented suite) or similar.

Day 7 - Monday Hluhluwe / Durban / Johannesburg (Breakfast)

Embark on a final game drive followed by breakfast and check-out formalities. Travel via the Elephant coast back to Durban for flight to Johannesburg (flight not included). Upon arrival at OR Tambo International Airport, you will be met by ILIOS Travel representative and transferred to your hotel. Balance of the evening at leisure. Dinner to own account. Day 8 - Tuesday Soweto & Apartheid Museum (Breakfast, Lunch)

Half-Day Soweto Tour.

Soweto is a cluster of townships located at the South Western Flank of Johannesburg. It is here that most of the struggle is done against the injustices of the regime and is home to sites of historical importance. The tour of the afternoon the exhibit at The Apartheid Museum The Apartheid Museum opened in 2001 and, at the heart of which is the apartheid story. The exhibits include provocative film footage, photographs, text panels and artifacts illustrating events and human stories that are part of the epic saga.

The museum is fundamental. Overnight Protea Hotel Balalaika (standard room) or similar.

Day 9 - Wednesday Johannesburg / Mpumalanga (Breakfast, Dinner)

Depart Johannesburg and the Land of the Rising Sun - Mpumalanga - via the magnificent Panorama Route. The most spectacular stretch of the Panorama Route is the Blyde River Canyon. From many well-positioned vantage points, one has a view of the 33 km long gorge, which starts at "Bourke's Luck Potholes" and ends at the "Three Rondavels". Time and weather permitting, stop at God's Window. Late afternoon arrival at your hotel. Check-in and freshen up before dinner.

Day 10 - Thursday Luxury Safari Experience (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

After breakfast and check-out formalities, you will be transferred to the Manyeleti Reserve, an authentic African bush stay. The camp offers a breathtaking wildlife experience while still pampering the senses with meticulous service and superb cuisine. Morning and evening game tracking drives in open 4 x 4 vehicles to make contact with the Big Five. Highly experienced guides will take care of you. Day 11 - Friday Luxury Safari Experience (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Enjoying a full day of being treated like African Royalty while creating a memorable safari experience on scheduled game viewing activities on offer. Overnight Honeyguide Tented Safari Camp (tented suite) or similar.

Day 12 - Saturday Mpumalanga / Johannesburg (Breakfast)

Time permitting, embark on your final morning game viewing activity before returning to camp for breakfast followed by check-out formalities. Your flight to Johannesburg will be collected for your transfer to Hoedspuit Airport (flight not included). Upon arrival at OR Tambo International Airport, you must be met by ILIOS Travel representative and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the afternoon at leisure and dinner would be to own arrangements. Overnight Protea Hotel Balalaika (standard room) or similar.

Day 13 - Sunday Johannesburg City Tour (Breakfast)

Johannesburg City Tour. Johannesburg is a booming, city and the area happening. Close to City Hall, Newtown Cultural. Precinct and Maboneng. forms the heart of urban revival. Visit the Gandhi Memorial, see how art is being used to revitalize and uplift the inner city of Johannesburg and get a bird's eye view of Johannesburg. The tour ends with OR Tambo International Airport for your onward flight arrangements.
